Support Us

Donations

We are a small self-funding Rescue operated entirely by volunteers so you can be assured every penny donated goes directly towards the welfare of the cats.

We are only able to do what we do because of our wonderful, generous supporters, and we take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported us along the way. We are only too aware that times are very difficult for everyone now, but if you feel you can donate, however, small it will be greatly appreciated.

Please check out our amazon wishlist . (Coming Soon)

We also have a just giving page. Any donations big or small would be gratefully received. Thank you

Food/Litter

We have food donation bins in the following supermarkets:

Morrison’s
Wincanton

Sainsbury's
Sherborne

Tesco’s
Shaftesbury

Quite often when we go to the bins somebody has taken the time to knit blankets, which we love and always use in the pens. Other times we discover some pretty dishes or an interesting toy, unwanted cat beds or cat-carriers all donations are gratefully received thank you!

Volunteers

Have you a few hours to spare? We have several roles which are fun for you, but such a big help to us and more importantly the cats who we must never forget.

We need volunteers to help with cleaning the pens, topping up food and water, but the best bit is getting to know the cats. They love having someone to play with, and best of all they really enjoy having cuddles. However, this role is much more than just cleaning it is very important because we get a lot of cats coming in with behavioural issues.

We need to spend hours trying to re-educate the cat into realising not all humans are unkind. We get many cats who are just left when their owner moves. Or when an elderly owner dies on many occasions the much loved pet is left to fend for itself because the family cannot be bothered to ensure it is either homed or given to a rescue. So cats come in scared, some hide in igloo beds for weeks too worried to come out.

Also, of course, you have the cat that goes onto the defensive hissing, spitting, lunging at this unknown human. So we must be gentle, understanding and keep going back for the odd swipe or hiss from a very worried mentally hurt cat. Then one day totally unexpectedly the cat comes to you, and head butts or even jumps on your lap. You know then it is on the long road to recovery and hopefully a new loving owner will be found.

We often need drivers to collect cats, deliver cat traps, take cats to the vets so if you are willing to receive a call to do one of these tasks that would be absolutely brilliant.

Finally…

because we are a small rescue, we are going to have to do some serious fundraising!!

When actually running a rescue, it is not always possible for Sandy to man a table at a local sale or boot fair. Cats at the Mill need some people who will come up with some bright new ideas for raising much needed funds to pay Vet bills.

Remember every cat needs to have a medical, must be neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated. This does not include older cats coming in with dental issues or having to be dematted or cats suffering from cystitis which not only needs drugs, but special food to control the problem.

So if you are bursting with fundraising ideas, happy to be a driver when needed or would love to be hands on with our wonderful cats please contact:
